The tale of who lives with her stepmother, the Dame, and her two horrid stepsisters. The family is unkind to and makes her sleep in cinders near the fire. Short of money, the Dame sees an opportunity to marry one of her ugly daughters when the Prince announces he is to give a Gala Ball.
